In 2021, as part of Kazakhstan’s tourism development program, a modern visitor center was opened in the Aiyusay Gorge – a popular recreational area in the mountains of Almaty. That same year, a partnership began with Electrobikes.kz to support eco-tourism by providing tourists with the opportunity to visit Big Almaty Lake by electric bikes.
Electric bicycles have made excursions to Big Almaty Lake more accessible and easier, reducing travel time to just 40-50 minutes, compared to 2,5-3 hours on a regular bicycle or 6 hours on foot. To protect the environment, vehicles with internal combustion engines are prohibited from entering the area. Today, tourists actively use electric bikes branded as “EFES E-bikes” around the lake.
In 2023 – 2024, new visitor centers were opened in the Altyn-Emel National Park and the Charyn Canyon. Next year, the network of centers is planned to expand to the Talgar and Butakov Gorges, continuing efforts to promote eco-tourism and provide guests of Kazakhstan with a convenient way to enjoy the country’s natural beauty.
